This study adopts the feminist theory of women participation in politics feminists and gender scholars have rationalized varied justifications theoretically for the participation of women in politics. These rationalizations are often situated within the boundaries of physiology / biology. Tradition, culture, materials and modernity [Kunle, 2007; 138]]

The fundamental physical and physiological difference between men and women, in part, account for the ascribed masculine supremacy, and patriarchy inevitability in societies which is most crucial form of feminine domination, the legitimacy of which ironically rests up tradition and also the differentiation in role allocation and eventual subaudition of women as a by-product of bio physiological differences [Kunle, 2007; 139].

Women’s under representation and participation in politics is a global phenomenon. The situation in Nigeria, especially northern Nigeria is alarming; women are subordinated in all spheres of life. Various cultural and religious prejudices have continued and effective representation. Although religion has remained a popular identity in Nigeria, it has remained a popular identity in Nigeria, it has gradually crept in to governance process [Hussaini, 2008; 21]

Lip set [1963] argued that women are not active participants because they have low level of socio-economic status are only members of trade union, not other organization.

Verba and Nei [1972] reiterate that membership in any organization greatly reduces the gap between those that have a high socio economic status with the letter having many advantages, participation in voluntary association is not equal.

Shall-Holmas [1980] suggested that there is a negative relationship between intensity or religion devotion and greater, political participation of women, more especially Muslim women, because Islam as a religion is an obstacle to active participation in politics by women, therefore the intense the religious devotion of women, the less the tendency to participate in politics.

In this study an attempt will be made to correlate socio economic status and intensity of religion devotion with political participation in the women of the Nassarawa local government.
