AERC-World Bank Visiting Scholars Program 2023/2024 – Apply Now
The AERC is calling upon its network of researchers and faculty to share their interest in joining the AERC-World Bank visiting scholars program.

This program offers a fellowship opportunity that allows participants to engage in research activities related to economic development in Africa while spending time at the World Bank. Additionally, scholars will have the chance to collaborate with the bank’s researchers, especially those stationed in the Africa Region, to further develop their own work.
The AERC network researchers and faculty members are invited to submit their interest in joining the AERC-World Bank visiting scholars program.
This program offers a fellowship opportunity to participants, allowing them to spend time at the World Bank and work on their personal research projects related to economic growth in Africa.
Additionally, participants will collaborate with the World Bank’s researchers, focusing primarily on those based in Africa Region, to develop their research further.
The AERC-World Bank Visiting Scholars Program offers a unique opportunity for AERC researchers to spend four months at the World Bank.
Three scholars are selected from among AERC network members every year, based on specific guidelines that take into account the World Bank’s policies and procedures. In addition to this program, a range of scholarship opportunities are also available in various countries across Europe, the United States, and Canada.

Requirements:
To be considered for the program, you must:
- Must be an AERC researcher, including researchers from the AERC collaborative Ph.D. program CPP);
- Must have an active AERC research project at least at interim/post field stage or final research paper stage; and
- The research project must be pertinent to the research agenda of the World Bank Africa Region, and imperatives for sustained African development.
