NNPC/Chevron Scholarship Program for Young Nigerians: Joint Venture National University Scholarship

The NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture National University is providing several University Scholarship Awards for highly qualified Nigerian students from all States of the Federation.

The NNPC | Chevron Nigeria Limited Undergraduate Scholarships are available for Nigerian students. Successful applicants will receive N200,000 Naira annually. The scholarship is awarded when students enter their first year at UBC (University of British Columbia), and it can be renewed for up to three additional years of study, contingent upon available funding. The number and level of scholarships awarded each year may vary depending on the availability of funds.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1 – Full-time, SECOND YEAR (200 LEVEL) degree students enrolled in Nigerian Universities pursuing any of the courses listed below:
(Note: This pertains to candidates admitted during the 2021/2022 academic session. Please ensure you fall within this academic session before proceeding with your application)

  • Accountancy
  • Agricultural Science
  • Architecture
  • Business Administration/Economics
  • Computer Science
  • Environmental Studies/Surveying
  • Geology/Geophysics/Geo-Informatics
  • Law
  • Mass Communication/Journalism
  • Engineering
  • Dentistry
  • Pharmacy
  • Medicine/Surgery

Applicants should have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5.0-grade system or its equivalent on other grade systems. Additionally, they must possess at least six O-level credits obtained in one sitting.

2 – The NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture is also offering scholarships exclusively to blind/visually impaired SECOND-YEAR (200 LEVEL) degree students studying any course in Nigerian Universities.

Eligibility Criteria for Blind/Visually Impaired Applicants:

To be eligible for this specific scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Attain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 5.0-grade system or the equivalent on other grade systems.
  • Possess a minimum of five O-level credits.

Scholarship Duration and Benefits

The scholarship program will have two different periods. For the September set, it will run from September 2020 to September 2021, and for the January set, it will be from January 2021 to January 2022.

Selected scholars will receive a full tuition fee waiver for the entire year of their study. Additionally, they will be provided with a stipend of £8,000, which will be paid out over the course of 12 months.

Priority consideration will be given to applicants who can provide evidence of their refugee status. However, the University reserves the right to extend the invitation to apply to other eligible applicants as well.

Required Documents

Before you begin the application process, make sure you have clear scanned copies of the following documents:

  1. The passport photograph was taken within the last 6 months (dimensions: 450px by 450px, file size: not more than 200kb).
  2. School ID card.
  3. Admission Letter from the University.
  4. Birth Certificate.
  5. O’ Level Result.
  6. JAMB Result (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Result).
  7. Local Government Area Letter of Identification.

Please ensure that each document is properly named according to its content to avoid any confusion during the upload process. When prompted to upload the documents, kindly attach the appropriate files accordingly.

Application Procedure:

Please take note that applicants for the NNPC/CNL JV scholarship are not eligible to apply for any other scholarship program sponsored by Chevron Nigeria Limited, its JV Partners, or any affiliates, including the Agbami scholarship program, which is announced simultaneously with this NNPC/CNL JV scholarship program.


This scholarship is open only to full-time SECOND-YEAR (200 LEVEL) students admitted during the 2021/2022 academic session. Kindly verify whether you fall into this academic session before proceeding with your application.

Follow the steps below to apply:

  1. Click on the “Apply Now” tab.
  2. Click on “Register Now” to create an account.
  3. Proceed to your email inbox to activate your account.
  4. Click on the following link to return to the Scholarship site:
  5. Enter your registered email and password to upload your information.
  6. Provide your personal information, National Identification Number (if available), educational information, and other required details. Upload the necessary scanned documents.
  7. Ensure that the name used in your application matches the names on all supporting documentation in the same order. If there is any discrepancy, upload a sworn affidavit or certificate to rectify it.
  8. Verify all uploaded documents to eliminate errors during uploading.
  9. When asked to upload a photo, ensure that you use a passport photograph with a white background.
  10. Double-check your application information to avoid any mistakes.
  11. Return to the “Active Scholarships” section and click on the scheme you wish to apply for. Click “Apply Now” to submit your information.
  12. After successfully applying, you will receive a notification on the screen and via email. To confirm, go to “My application” under the “My Account” section on your profile.
  13. Return to, enter your Email and Password to download your profile, and then have your Head of Department sign the document.
  14. Upload a scanned copy of the signed profile; this is for verification purposes.
  15. If you did not provide your National Identification Number (NIN) in Step 6, obtain your NIN by visiting Create an account, complete the required fields, and schedule a date for photo and fingerprint capture. Visit any of the 37 capture centers listed at to complete the registration process and obtain your National Identity Number. Alternatively, you can complete your registration at the NIMC office.
  16. Return to and update your application with your National Identification Number (NIN) to ensure completion.

Note: Applying multiple times may result in a disqualification penalty from the Scholarship board.
